The Discovering Matter lesson allows for students to conduct one of their first experiments in 3rd grade. Through the Roadmap they are introduced to the three common states of matter, the terms constant and variable, as well as being introduced to creating a driving question and creating an experiment (with help). The activities can be completed as a group or as individuals. The choice is yours.

This is a "baseline" lesson for students to learn about how a law is passed in the U.S. Congress. There are only a few learning activities in the lesson “Roadmap.” The intent is for a teacher to modify the lesson to fit the needs of her/his classroom. For example, a high school teacher might include more text-based materials, while an elementary school teacher might include more video-based materials. Feel free to add new learning activities.

Teaching Tips:
This lesson uses the Roadmap.center platform, a platform that supports educators in managing the full life-cycle of a digital lesson (e.g., creating, distributing, monitoring, assessing, sharing). Clicking on the “Roadmap” will open Roadmap.center and then you can modify the lesson as you see fit. (You will need to log into Roadmap.center with a Google email account.)
