· VERY interesting! This Roadmap lesson looks like a “classic” compare and contrast type of learning activity. We can use it as template, in fact.
o Watch video/videos/ and/or read document/documents
o Write an opinion – using the OREO method.
o Share and … revise?
· Perhaps using the Venn Diagramming app would be useful in this compare/contrast lesson. It could be used as a place to store the properties of real and artificial Xmas trees – highlighting the commonalities.
· Then, write an OREO. (We did note that there was not a final O in the Writer file.)
· Question: should we create an OREO app? It would be a version of Writer, but it would JUST have the O, R, E, O segments.
· Note: the students could share out a Writer document directly – just like a Google Doc. So, no need to copy from Writer into a Google Doc.
· Question: After the sharing out, should a student come back around and revise his/her OREO? (We could put an arrow from the Sharing back to the OREO writer activity, labeling the arc: Revise.)
We think that in posting the revised version of this Roadmap, we urge you to explain that this Roadmap is a model for the compare two “things” activity. Yes, it is an opinion essay, but the basis is a compare/contrast activity at the core.
