Energy Resource Lesson 6 : Energy Conservation and Efficiency : Leaks and Lights

1. The activity “In the Driver’s Seat” provided on the MEECS Energy Resources CD gives students the opportunity to learn about transportation and conduct a fuel efficiency simulation using different types of vehicles.

2. U.S. DOE Energy Savers Virtual Home Tour helps students learn more about saving money and energy, and protecting the environment. Ask students to take the “Energy Savers Virtual Home” tour on the Energy Savers CD.

3. Students can test their lighting knowledge by taking the ENERGY STAR “Lighting Quiz: Change a Light and Change the World ” (http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=ilg.pr_lighting_quiz_index).

4. The inquiry activity from Get Smart About Energy, “Energy Power Plants: Using Bicycles for Transportation,” located on the MEECS Energy Resources CD, helps students design and implement a bicycle transportation plan for their school or community.

5. Students learn how to make smart energy choices and play fun energy games at Energy Hog (http://www.energyhog.org/).
