Land Use Lesson 7 : Solving Land Use Conflicts
The following resources are in support of several of the major ideas presented in this lesson. First, the core democratic values are those approved for use in the Michigan Curriculum Framework. A brief definition accompanies each core democratic value. In addition, more information is available regarding how the core democratic values may be presented in classroom instruction. Those are available on MI ClLiMB, a CD and web site sponsored by the Michigan Department of Education. Second, the remaining resources present case studies of land use and land use zoning decisions. Most townships and counties in the State of Michigan will have a web site on which they will post the agenda and the meeting minutes where local land use decisions have been made. These are a valuable source for studying local government as well as the role government plays in land use
