Air Quality - Chapter 8 : How Can Our Actions Impact the World?

1. Have students write an essay or prepare posters on “what global climate change means to our community.”

2. As a culmination of the Air Quality Unit, have students read and react to the Silent Spring Revisited student assessment. Silent Spring by Rachel Carson is a classic book that strongly influenced the environmental movement in the United States. Have students answer the assessment questions. Look for answers that show that they understand that although we are now more vigilant about protecting the environment, we can’t always be prepared for the consequences of human activities.
