Water Quality Lesson 3 : Do You Know YOUR Watershed?

Students answer these essential questions: 

What is a watershed? 

Why care about watersheds?

How does water in your watershed reach the Great Lakes? 

Why does the amount of streamflow differ between Michigan streams and during different months of the year?

Note: If possible, teach about watersheds during the rainy season or spring runoff when students can observe surface water moving in their communities and throughout their watershed.
