Air Quality - Lesson 7 : What Can We Do About Air Pollution?
Air Info Now
The Pima County (Arizona) Department of Environmental Quality is dedicated to providing current air
quality information for the metropolitan Tucson area. This website was developed with a grant from U.S.
EPA and with assistance from The University of Arizona, The American Lung Association, and Pima
Association of Governments. It has information on air pollutants, their health effects, and activities to help
understand air pollution. The activities include animations such as the carbon monoxide (CO) city module,
building ozone, and “lung attack.” Pima County Department of the Environment. (2011). AIR Info Now.

Air Watch Australia
The AirWatch program is a national initiative aimed at developing environmental awareness, specifically
about air pollution. Through AirWatch, students from around Australia are learning about their local air and
how they can keep it clean. Lessons from this program are found on the MEECS Air Quality CD. Air Watch
Australia. Welcome to Air Watch. Retrieved June 4, 2011, from http://www.airwatch.wa.gov.au/.
A-Way With Waste
This curriculum by the State of Washington presents integrated waste management concepts affecting
land, air, and water in the ecosystem. Environmental, economic, and political issues are addressed.
The activities are designed to promote awareness, attitude, and actions to solve waste management
problems at home, at school, and in the community. A special section on air quality has many activities.

Investigating and Evaluating Environmental Issues and Actions
The issue-investigation model permits the learner to become an expert information gatherer and data
processor as the intellectual skills needed for the successful investigation, evaluation, and resolution
of environmental issues are developed. The Teacher’s Edition of this book is used as a text in many college
environmental studies programs. Hungerford, H., Litherland, R, Peyton, R., Ramsey, J. and Volk, T. (2003).
