This course introduces students to the writing process as a means of developing ideas into clear, correct, and effective writing.
Designing the school garden will require Math, ELA, and Science skills with Scientific Method being used as a foundation. Students will create a school garden as a result of the work they preloaded into the activity. Finally, students will decide if the school garden has an improvements needed for future growth or more growth.

This lesson alerts students to the fallacies that surround them every day. The fallacies used in advertising are often overlooked without the tools needed to examine them critically. In this lesson, students deconstruct fallacious images and messages in advertisements and demonstrate their understanding of the fallacies through multimedia presentations. The presentations provide an anchor for shared understanding.

This assignment has students complete a timed writing assignment on a topic they were not previously given. It includes a brainstorming question, background reading, a rubric for grading and finally the writing prompt. Student's are able to self-review the writing as well as have peers and teacher's review the writing through a google add on app called Orange Slices.
During this three week unit, students practice and apply research skills while completing a project on a woman of their choice. Ideally, this project is taught around March, which is Women's History Month. Summative assessments for this unit include the completed project and an annotated bibliography.
